The official web site for"inception" also opens with the trailer, this is something I should include if I choose to make a website to accompany my film, but the style and mode of address is very different in this websites attempts to get sales that of "district 9"s site.
Rather than aiming to extend the fiction of the film making it a more complete story to promote the film this website openly advertises with a "buy this" form of address. I think this st lye of website will be more achievable, but I can still add extra fiction and content if i have the chance.
